Job Summary
Primarily focuses on claim submission including verifying completeness and accuracy of all claims prior to submission. Ensures all claims are submitted on time. May also assist RCM manager with other revenue cycle tasks as needed including insurance follow-up on accounts receivables or correcting claims that were denied. Also, assists with submission of insurance pre-certifications and authorizations as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Daily submission of claims through practice management system
- Work payer and clearinghouse rejections
- Provide daily status of claims volume, charges, and payments to leadership
- Coordinates data between finance and operations teams
- Insurance follow-up on claims as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Competencies:
- Understanding of medical terminology
- ICD-10/ Common Procedural Terminology (CPT)
- Experience working with EMR (Athena preferred)
- Competency with computer systems including the Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of insurance plans and billing rules (HMO, PPO, etc.)
Qualifications
Education: High School
Minimum of 3 years experience in billing and revenue cycle operations
