What is Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)?
What is Radiofrequency
Ablation (RFA)?
Radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive treatment for patients who are suffering from chronic venous insufficiencies (CVI) with or without varicose veins. This procedure involves using a small catheter to close the veins using radiofrequency waves. This results in the relief of symptoms caused by varicose veins, including heaviness, aching, swelling, itching, tingling, burning, restlessness, skin discoloration, skin ulcers, and leg pain.
What are the Benefits of Radiofrequency
Ablation (RFA)?
Minimally invasive treatment
Takes three to five hours to complete
Relieves enlarged veins that will fill with blood
Treats mild to moderate varicose veins
Minimal downtime and recovery period
What to Expect During
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) Treatment?
A StrideCare board-certified vein specialist will perform the radiofrequency ablation at a local StrideCare location. Before the radiofrequency ablation begins, a local anesthetic may be applied to the treatment area to ensure comfortability throughout the treatment. Once numb, the specialist will place a small catheter into the affected vein. This catheter will shut the veins with radiofrequency heat energy. A band aid will be placed over the insertion site. The entire treatment process typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete.
